The academic year has started at the Egyptian E-Learning University amidst strictures to
apply precautionary measures to confront the emerging corona virus. Professor Hisham
AbdelSalam, President of Egyptian E-Learning University, made an inspection tour today
on the occasion of the start of the academic year at the headquarters of the various
university centers in Assiut branch. The rest of the centers witnessed an introductory
meeting for new students of the study system in the Faculties of Computers Science and
Business Administration at the university through video conference technology for the
academic year 2020/2021. Also a detailed explanation of the nature of the study programs
and how to deal with electronic learning platforms was presented.
Abdelsalam reassured the implementation and adherence of all learning centers to
precautionary and preventive measures, and the organization of the students’ entry
process by applying the social distancing and measuring temperatures for all students
before entering the learning center. There are decisions that have been issued to the
directors’ of the branches emphasizing on preventing the entry of any student, teacher or
employee who is infected or showing symptoms of Covid-19.
Abdul Salam stressed the need for all faculty members, staff and students to wear
medical mask (muzzle) and the need to use disinfectants, and, prevent gatherings in order
to maintain health safety. In addition, he stressed on the regularity of the academic
studies in both faculties, the announcement of the study schedules for students, the
preparation and sterilizing of lecture halls and laboratories, the distribution of students to
departments and academic sections, and the end of the registration and registration work
for new students in the faculties, emphasizing on taking all legal measures against all
violators of precautionary and preventive procedures.
He also recommended paying attention to various students’ activities, stressing that the
university continues to support these activities, whether sportife, cultural or social.
Moreover, he emphasized on expanding the concept of participation in such activities
among students, along with the educational process.
Professor Abdelsalam noted the spread of university’s centers nationwide, such as in
Cairo, Assiut, Menoufia, Alexandria, Hurghada, Qena, Sohag, Beni Suef, Aswan, Sadat
City, Fayoum, and Ismailia. And that spread is at the headquarters of governmental
universities located within those governorates, pointing out that these centers provide
educational services to the largest possible sector through this geographical spread.
The university president indicated that the teaching method and the e-learning system
within the university depend on a blended system that achieves a balance between digital
and traditional education, through face-to-face study by attending study centers, and
lectures via video communication and attending virtual classes, e-courses, activities,
online tests, and self-learning, which depends on the availability to refer to recorded
lectures, assignments and projects, and view e-books and interactive e-courses.
